MURANO GLASS AND NEON LIGHT

The site-specific lighting installation Ultraworld by Patrick Tuttofuoco (Milan, Italy, 1974) represents the profiles of the iconic faces of the Indian goddess Kali and the Greek deity Dionysus. Positioned at the corner of the facade of the MAO in Turin, Kali faces east, while Dionysus faces west, creating a symbolic spatial union between apparently opposite polarities such as East/West, female/male, destruction/rebirth.

The work invites us to reflect on the overcoming of gender boundaries and the deconstruction of stereotypes, labels and categories, highlighting a fragmented and multiform vision of contemporary identity.

Designed to light up at night, the installation retains its appeal during the daytime as well, thanks to the high quality of the glass and its interaction with natural light. The collaboration with WonderGlass made this poetic realisation possible, in which aesthetics and technique merge in a perfect dialogue.

The work is produced by WonderGlass and is featured as part of Costellazione, a collateral section of Luci d’Artista.
